Latest favorite design

My sis came over my house to choose, cut and grind these stained glass. It's fun to look at each glass and thinking what design I should give it. She has no idea what the end products will look like ;-)
Hey sis, like it or not?

Little Wenwen turned 9 months old

Little Wenwen is 9 months old now and is very very active. She cannot stay put for even a second. I'm beginning to feel abit stressed out. She can scream on anything like refusing to change clothes or diaper, refusing to sit in her chair and eat, or when I don't allow her to touch anything. I can't sit down and have a decent meal with her running in her walker and screaming for attention or wanting a bite of what I'm having. Because of her, I have not been eating proper meals and getting enough sleep. Though it's a hair pulling time for me, she's still a darling to me by the end of the day.

This is a picture of her swimming for the second time. She did not enjoy swimming at all during the first time and would cry and clung to me like a little koala bear. Then recently I discovered that she likes to splash water during her bath time, so I took her swimming again. She was so eager to go into the pool :-)

Mid-autumn festival

Last Sunday, we gathered at my mum's place to celebrate Mid-autumn festival. The kids were having lots of fun lighting up paper lanterns and hanging them around the house.

My abstract image of the lanterns hung around the house haha...

Buy Handmade, Help Support the Victims of Hurricane Katrina!

I've made a little charm and donated it to CraftRevolution.com where they've set up this special online store to help support the victims of Hurricane Katrina. All proceeds from the sales will go to the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund to help the victims.

I was just informed by Craft Revolution that it's sold. Yay!

I found a nice blue heart-shaped bead that has silver stars on it. I matched it with a red stained glass. Doesn't it reminds you the color of America's flag? The heart-shaped bead resembles the heart of people from around the world... our heart goes out to the victims and their family.
To complete the look, I hung a bicone glass bead on the letter 'S' of USA.
I like to thank Jaime from US who has bought this little charm... :-)

Art fair at ACM

The alfresco art fair at Asian Civilisation Musuem went smoothly except for some complains here and there on the first day...

First of all, we were given 2 tables that has a very nice view of the Singapore River... how 'NICE'... with the bushes right in front of our tables. Who will see our products???!!

It's so unfair. So we complained to the organizer, but as the other vendors has their display all set up, it was inconvenient to ask them shift their tables to make space for ours. So we just have to bear with it for a day.

Another problem was our neighbour who's doing some service business, something to do with health. They have about 6 ladies standing right in front of their 2 tables, approaching anyone who passed by. I would say 8 out of 10 irritated customers just turned away from their tables, before reaching ours which was just next to them. Some of these ladies even stood in front of our tables and introduce their service to our customers. So we complained straight to them and to the organiser as well.

The weather was extremely hot and my skin developed heat rash. I looked like a skin cancer patient...
Then out of a sudden came the heavy downpour! The boxes and bags left on the floor were soaked and so were our shoes. The rain has prevented many people from walking in. What a day...

On the second day, everything went smoothly. Though weather still hot, but I've brought my heat rash lotion. Here's few photos of the things we were selling at the fair.

Colorful mugs and magnets painted by our friends...

Nice cool t-shirts designed by our friends too! I bought one with a giraffe print for my nephew and he loves it!!!

Doris's earrings and my pendants.

Fortunately sales was still ok despite some problems on the 1st day. I look forward to this coming weekend fair down at orchard road, crowd is so many times better than this fair.

Relaxed finally!

3am... I've just finished munching Doritos with salsa sauce after feeding milk to my daughter.

AAHHH... finally I can relax...

Poor little girl was sick for the past 1 week. Fever, rashes and lost of appetite due to teething.
She has finally recovered but I was so tired and need to grab some sleep, so I left her in my in-law's house yesterday. But a good friend popped by to chat, taking away few hours of my time. But it's ok, we had a great time sharing stories.

I returned to my in-law's place in the evening to pick her up. The moment she saw me, she gave me a wide smile and raised both her arms wanting me to carry her. Then she goo and gah as if sharing her day with me. On the way home, she hugged me so tightly... it felt like Heaven :)

Ric, if you are reading this, hurry up and bring us some good news by next year. Little Wenwen can have a companion to play with the next time we visit you :)

Scraps wearable art

I've got so many small pieces of glass that I've been reluctant to throw away cos some are very nice but too small and light weight to make into a pendant.

So I combined some of them and it turn out quite interesting. So recently I've been having fun mixing, matching and making these wearable art and of cos selling on ebay to earn some extras .

Swimming

Yesterday spent a long time looking for a swim suit for my little girl. Guess I'm a fussy mum... I look for colors and design that catches my eyes instantly, and most importantly the price must be cheap cos kids grew up very fast, no point spending so much money.

I found a very nice green one with little pink, cherry red and orange designs on it, and it has very nice sweet frills on the straps and at the waistline at the back. So cute!! It was on sale, only S$9.90!!

Sickening sickness

My little girl has fever and flu few days ago. It's heartaching to see her so listless, but fortunately she recovered within 2 days. Now it's my turn to fall sick :-(

I was too weak to take care of her so we sent her to my mother-in-law's place. I missed her so badly even though I still get to see her at night when my husband brings her back home to sleep.

Can't wait to recover soon and start on my glass works and play with my little darling!!!

My friends have helped me to design and update my website for a long time, so I decided it's time I do it on my own with some guidance from them.

Though very simple pages, but I love the vibrant colors. I will try to improve it when I have more time :-)

ooohh...earthquake...

I was at my sister's place celebrating my nephew's birthday when suddenly we felt the tremor from the earthquake in Sumatra. It lasted on and off for about 30 secs.

We were supposed to be worried and probably terrified, but instead, we were so excited! Although it has happened a few times in some parts of Singapore, but this is the first time we experienced it.

We are so fortunate to be in Singapore. Although we are so near to the neighbouring countries who were hit by the tsunami, we are still very safe here. :-)

4.19am

It's 4.19am. Having difficulty getting back to my slumberland after feeding baby and putting her to sleep.

It felt nice to be awake at this hour somehow...
No noise from the mother of 2 living upstairs who is always nagging and screaming at her children.... No road construction outside the house... It's just so peaceful at this hour :-)

Mysterious man

It was a very hot day, about 35 degrees.

I spent the afternoon with my baby at Ikea, enjoying the air-condition.
As I was having lunch at the burger king restaurant there, an elderly man walked up to us. He has gray hair and beard, wearing a loose shirt with a jade necklace round his neck. He looked very closely at my baby who's sitting in the pram, his face is about 15cm away from her. I was quite nervous, not knowing if he's a lunatic, and if he'll harm my baby, or was he just finding my baby cute but he is short-sighted??

He suddenly talked very loudly to me, he said "when your daughter grew up, send her to kindergarten, then to primary school, secondary school, junior colledge, university, then send her to me." After that, he shoved his name card to me and walked off.

There was alot of question marks floating above my head.

On the name card, there's only his name and residential address. I turned over the card and there were prints of the word Kodak. This is not a card, it's a 2R size photo. Errr... what's this all about? I wonder... crazy man? Well, it's a funny encounter.

View outside my window. Hot hot day, not a soul on the street, even the cats went into the shades...

Snip Snip Snip!

Made a sudden decision today.

I went to the hair salon and said goodbye to my long hair of many years. As the stylist snips away my hair, I was still asking myself if I was sure about this... Should I ask her to stop? Is it too late? I've got thick hair, so will my head look big when my hair is short? What if my husband cannot accept the drastic change, and I have to move to my mum's place for a few months to avoid him seeing me?
what if... what if... what if....????

I'm now sitting in front of my monitor typing this, sipping my hot coffee... listening to my favorite bossa nova music... smiling to myself

... waiting to see my husband's reaction when he gets home... ;)

A bucket of stained glass scraps...

Long before I started selling my stained glass pendants on ebay, I have been browsing at other artisans' works and found a girl who does very nice bold designs, you gotta check out her collage pendants too. She has a nice website named moonwaterdesigns.

I couldn't resist leaving a comment on her blog posting after reading that she too, gets excited over a bucket of stained glass scraps. You don't get to share this kinda same feelings with people everyday!
Surprisingly, she noticed me long time ago too! I'm so glad to finally know someone all the way from US who shares the same passion with me.

Thanks Nicole, it's good to know you :)

Struggles

I watched as my little one makes her first attempt to roll over onto her stomach. She struggled in frustration but never gave up. Once... twice... three times... four times... five times... she started to cry... I gave her buttock a light push and she finally rolled and laid on her stomach, but as well as her face buried in the bed. I chuckled and helped the desperate little one to get up.

Isn't life just the same? We struggle to fulfill many things in life. At times we fail but there's always someone there to give us help and a little push.

Thanks all my friends who walked with me through difficult times! :)
